TOP

What additional skills do I need to develop and support my applications?
  • No additional skills are required, other than those already available in a typical SAP customer.

What other software do I need to license?
  • For BlackBerry devices – none.  JAVA run time is included with the device

  • For windows mobile devices, we install a small-footprint run-time JVM (Java Virtual Machine) on each device which is integral to the value proposition.

  • We recommend using the Crème JVM (from NSICom - www.nsicom.com).  This does require a license to run, but has proved to be very scalable and deliver good performance on a mobile device.

How do I upgrade the application on each device once in the field?

  • Upgrades and modifications to the application can be done remotely from within the SAP system.  Alternatively, new applications can be automatically installed via the SD card slot on the device with virtually no user intervention.

How is the application backed-up and recovered?

  • Automatic PDA Installation from SD card.

  • Full and partial backup system allows complete recovery from go-flat situation without data loss.

TOP

How is the application managed?

  • The application and software upgrades are managed centrally, enabling application changes and upgrades to be deployed to the device while in the field without user interaction.

  • Remote device and data diagnostic tools are used allowing a central team to support all devices and users whilst in the field from a central location.

Can mobile users access information when they are offline?  If so, how?

  • Yes, the solution supports both real-time and stand-alone modes of operation.

  • Multi-Threaded Java server on PDA enables background processing such as data synchronisation, connection management, backup and application management..

  • Local database interaction.

  • Automatic network management and auto-connect capability.

TOP

How secure is the application?

TOP

What is the performance like over a mobile network?

  • The application uses high speed data compression to reduce network bandwidth which gives good performance on the device.

  • Multi-threaded Java server technology is utilised on the device allowing multiple tasks to be run concurrently on the device, further improving performance.

TOP
