Warburtons employs over
4,500 people and is actively managed by the fifth
generation of the Warburtons family – Brett, Jonathan
and Ross. The company produces more than two million
bakery products a day which it distributes across the UK
from its thirteen bakeries and eleven depots.
Aware that its BlackBerry smartphones
could do more than email and diary management and with
many of the management team frequently out of their
offices, Warburtons started looking for additional
business functionality that would improve their
managers’ productivity, speed up decision making and be
economically beneficial in a very short time.
Damien Ghee, Warburtons Director for IT
and Programmes saw PO approval as one such process and
realised that there were systemic delays when the
manager responsible was away from their desk.
In conjunction with its mobile service
provider O2 and iQlink, Warburtons implemented the
SkyMobile SAP PO approval application in less than one
month.

Operating across 40 countries,
Princes is the UK’s leading importer of canned food and one of
the country’s largest soft drinks manufacturers. Princes brand
names include the well known Princes label, Napolina Italian
foods and Shippams spreads, Aqua-Pura natural mineral water and
Crisp ‘n Dry cooking oil. Princes manufactures across nine
production sites in the UK, supplying own brand juices, drinks
and oils to many of the country’s leading supermarkets.
Princes realised that the Sky Innerware™ WM
solution template from iQlink was a good fit for their needs.
All other solutions that they considered were more complex,
requiring skilled resources (mainly ABAP programmers) and more
time to implement. The iQlink solution also reduced the risk and
the costs of support, and avoided the need for any additional
middleware.
The iQlink solution from Sky Technologies enables
warehouse staff to scan stock / pallet labels and confirm
transactions. The solution automates the 5 SAP transactions
above, saving staff time and reducing errors.

Rheem Australia Pty Ltd
is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rheem Manufacturing in
the USA, which in turn is a wholly owned subsidiary of
Paloma Industries Ltd in Japan, a world leader in water
heater technology and manufacture. The Rheem service
division in Australia employs 65 technicians across the
country who install and maintain Rheem water heaters.
Rheem had in place a mix of ‘data
head’ technology and two-way, voice only radio which
enabled information to be deployed to their technicians
in the field.
The project required the replacement
of this infrastructure in addition to the delivery of
innovative functionality to the Rheem field technicians
using ruggedised PDAs.
Rheem needed a mobile solution
which would enable field service technicians to receive
and process service orders for maintenance or new
installations, manage van inventory and process customer
payments (including credit card).

Australian Arrow Pty Ltd
(AAPL) is the largest supplier of wire harnesses to the
Australian automotive industry. AAPL is an Oceanic
affiliate of the Yazaki Corporation.
The project challenge was to enable
the use a common framework for application development
across multiple SAP® modules – in both real-time and
stand-alone modes.
The solution enables a variety of RF
devices to be deployed throughout the business, across a
variety of business processes. The common application
development framework gives flexibility which means that
AAPL IT staff can readily ‘DIY’ to include new
applications in the system. SkyMobile provides complete
visibility to all subsequent updates in SAP®.

Visy Recycling services nearly 2.2
million households and 20,000 businesses every week. Per annum, Visy
Recycling collects and processes more than 900,000 tonnes of paper and
cardboard, some 450,000 tonnes of glass, more than 20,000 tonnes of
plastic and approximately 5,000 tonnes of metal.
The final solution was delivered using SkyMobile,
which enabled the mobile application to be developed inside SAP® without
the need for middleware. The routes are managed and despatched to the
driver via a mobile network connection. Once received, the driver is
able to:
-
Display the route, including customer and product
details.
-
Capture information on completion of the pickup
In addition the route is able to be changed centrally
and redeployed to the driver.
SkyMobile manages all data on the device, including
synchronisation with SAP®, as well as establishing and monitoring the
network connection

CSR’s Building Materials Division
needed the implementation of an efficient and effective
point of sale (POS) operation at its chain of Gyprock
Trade Centres and Bradford Insulation Distribution and
Branch offices, which comprised POS devices with
integrated Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) functionality
feeding into the SAP® order entry module.
Using Sky Technologies’ products, CSR

Smorgon Steel
Distribution (SSD) has more than 2,100 employees in
plants and offices throughout Australia, comprising
manufacturing and distribution businesses in flat
metals, tube and pipe.
The Smorgan Steel Distribution (SSD)
business unit had purchased a large gantry for use in
automated materials handling. The system needed to be
integrated to the SAP® ERP WM module via TCP/IP sockets.
The final solution was delivered using
the SkyConnect suite of integration utilities, thus
enabling SAP® to communicate via the TCP/IP network. It
also enabled robust, end-to-end transaction management.
By enabling SAP® to communicate
directly with Kasto (Automated material handling
equipment and software), SSD has been able to
significantly improve productivity by reducing the
manual loading of vehicles and eliminating the ‘paper
trail’ previously required for processing the load.
